Several community meetings have been scheduled by the Squaw PSD’s Parks and Recreation Committee to discuss details of the proposed acquisition of the Olympic Meadow property. A tour of this historic property will be conducted prior to the start of each meeting.

All residents, second home owners and the general public are invited to attend. The event dates are:

Saturday, February 23, 2019
Property Tour 1:00-1:45 p.m.
Community Meeting starts at 2 p.m.

Tuesday, February 26, 2019
Property Tour 5:00-5:45 p.m.
Community Meeting starts at 6 p.m.

The property tours will be held on location at 325 Squaw Valley Road. The Community meetings will be held at the Squaw Public Service building at 305 Squaw Valley Road in the Community room.

The Squaw Valley Public Service District and Truckee Donner Land Trust is establishing a formal process to acquire the Olympic Meadow property and determine how the property can be opened to public if acquisition is successful.

Phase 1 of this process, between now and acquisition, will focus on identifying acquisition funding sources including private donations, public funding, grants, and a vote by District residents on a Revenue Measure.

Phase 1 will also invite broad stakeholder input on how best to utilize the property in the short term, including access to existing structures, new trails and other amenities.  This planning will include an assessment of what is required to make the existing land and structures legally accessible and code compliant for public access, and an understanding of annual maintenance costs. 

Phase 2 will commence after acquisition and will focus on community planning for the long term uses of the property, during which input from the community is essential in driving any decisions.”
