Poulsen House Envisioned for Olympic Valley Community Center

As per the attached press release from the Squaw PSD, the short-term plan is to leverage the property’s current facilities for immediate public access. Light-touch improvements are planned which will likely include: modernizations to the existing 5,435 sf house to transform it to a public meeting space. Other plans include trail development and other passive recreation amenities.

Once the necessary funds are raised through private donations and a potential property tax, parcel tax or bond issue, and the acquisition is successfully completed, a rigorous public outreach process will be used to determine the best uses for the portions of the property not earmarked for conservation. Those portions zoned for open space will be a priority for trails and public access.

The existing Poulsen residence will be transformed into an Olympic Valley Community Center
Lots of options for the residence and outlying buildings
Property includes an enclosed pool
House includes wide open, large spaces for potential public activities

As noted above, soon after acquisition, the District will initiate a master planning process with extensive community engagement to determine the long-term uses of the property which will benefit the regional community and its visitors.
