Increasing Recreational Opportunities in Squaw Valley
Over the last year the Friends of Olympic Valley have been advocating for the Squaw Valley Public Service District to expand its charter to include a focus on recreation for Olympic Valley (both the Tahoe City PUD and North Tahoe PUD do so).
We have also been asking the Placer County Parks Department to invest more funds in the park at the entrance of Olympic Valley – including the creation of a master plan for the park.
These efforts are beginning to produce results and there will be two meetings in late April regarding the park. We are hoping other citizens interested in seeing more recreational facilities in the Valley can attend these meetings to help show support for this initiative.
Upcoming Meetings and Agendas
At the Public Service’s Board of Directors Meeting on April 24, 2018, Andy Fisher, Parks Administrator for Placer County, will present a slideshow outlining the County’s role in providing Park & Recreation services. It’s a timed item starting no earlier than 9:30 am.
The Board Meeting will be followed by the first-ever PSD Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 1:00-3:00 pm.
P.S. Did you know the kiddies playground has reached end of life and the County is looking to replace the equipment? We have opportunity to have new play structures that better reflect our mountain heritage if we speak up!!!!
