The Friends’ position on Squaw’s recent Facebook Open Letter

Recently Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows published an open letter regarding the negative comments being received on their Facebook page.  It begins with…..

“All the sudden (sic) our social community became a black hole for negativity. It became a place for trolls and haters to hide behind a keyboard and bash our family.”

While we don’t condone rude and obnoxious comments, we do believe that Squaw’s Facebook page is indeed a place where customers can openly voice their views on Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows’ operations without reprisal.   As such….

The Friends of Olympic Valley believes that constructive criticism is a valuable component of community dialogue.  Our position papers and critique of the Village at Squaw Valley development proposal have been research based and carefully thought out, vetted and debated by our Board of Directors.

We believe that thoughtful and civil criticism is essential to the democratic process and we have applied that approach at public meetings and to our requests for public input.  The intent is to enhance development proposals in Squaw Valley by providing appropriate input.
