Squaw and Alpine Meadows Local Transit Petition – Please Sign

The Friends of Olympic Valley is endorsing the creation of a Micro Mass Transit District and the efforts by that group to fund and establish an intra-valley shuttle within Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows.

As some of the funding being sought would come from Placer County, the Transit Steering Committee has created an online petition that will be presented to the Placer County Board of Supervisors in support of this initiative.  We have included a link to the Change.org petition below.

The Problem….

Traffic congestion is one of the most serious problems residents and visitors to Squaw Valley face.

The solutions to this are varied, complex, and very long term. Recognizing this, a group within the Squaw Valley community is promoting the creation of a Micro Mass Transit District and with that, to take a first, small step in traffic reduction – to make an intra-valley shuttle a permanent fixture.

The goal is to have residents and overnight guests leave their cars in the garage. As noted, the funding for this program will come from an increase in local TOT tax, Squaw Valley Ski Holding, and hopefully Placer County.
